Our concept for a learn and play space was centred on the idea that since Hulme is made up of people of many different backgrounds, we could encourage them to interact with each other further by having them share and teach each other about the cuisines that they enjoy that come from their cultures. Food is something everyone has in common so it wouldn’t be hard to get people together to try out new foods. The building would be a large open space with shipping containers containing different stalls with different foods and movable walls that would change the feel of the space depending on what the main activity on the floor was. For example if there was an open mic night then the walls could be placed at the sides with the centre space holding a stage. That wouldn’t be the only activities as there could also be markets, other types of live performances, etc.
